Major Rug Weaving Groups: Dosemealti Rugs
If you want to find an attractive yet affordable rug, look no further than Dosemealti oriental rugs.
Known for their attractive weaving patterns, appealing color palette, and good quality wool, Dosemealti rugs make for great purchases in any home.
The Dosemealti Village
The Dosemealti village resides in Anatolia, Turkey, which is the Turkish peninsula bound by the Black Sea, the Mediterranean Sea, the Aegean Sea, and the Sea of Marmara. The village of Dosemealti sits right on the southwest divot in the peninsula touching the Mediterranean Sea.
The weaving products from this village became popular in the mid 1800s, and the rugs continued to successfully hold their own in the Oriental rug market today.
Dosemealti Rug Knotting
Although these rugs possess visually appealing attributes, they typically come with a lower knotting fineness than high-quality rugs. Normally, Dosemealti rugs feature a knotting fineness between 70 and 120 Turkish knots per square inch.
Sometimes a lower knotting fineness indicates irregular knotting that shifts over time as the rug ages. However, the thickness of the wool hinders knot shifting. Also, due to the high skill levels that the weavers in the Dosemealti tribe posses, the rugs’ knotting remains consistent throughout the rug.
Popular Rug Design
Traditionally, Dosemealti designs resemble the Luri nomad designs, and they come in two different compositional schemes. The first common design scheme contains a main row of three cruciform motifs. These motifs take up a majority of the rug, and the surrounding border features repeating geometric designs.
The second common design scheme features large, repeating frond forms. These fronds somewhat resemble vegetal candlesticks. Similar to the first design, the second design is also contained within a border of hexagonal shapes that makes it a double-ended prayer rug.
Dosemealti Rug Color Schemes
The weavers in the Dosemealti tribe utilize a wide range of colors when weaving. Reds, Blues, and warm greens show up frequently in their weaving pieces; yet, the color vibrancy depends on the style of wash. These weavers have an eye for color combinations, and these rugs almost always possess harmonious color schemes.
Just like these rugs come in many colors, they also come in a variety of sizes. The Dosemealti rugs have an excellent resale value, and they will keep their value for a long time.
